Before coming to University of Pittsburgh, I completed my MA at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey (2011). My MA thesis analyzed the conflicts that took place between the state and the local Soviets in the formation of Tatar national-cultural autonomy in the Volga-Ural region during the Russian Civil War. I earned my BS in sociology from Middle East Technical University (2009).

My dissertation will focus on the making of left-wing radical collectivities and networks inside the Second International in the 1910s. It will conceptualize those radical collectivities and networks as affective communities.
