Allyson Delnore, PhD

ALLYSON J. DELNORE is Managing Editor for the Pittsburgh Papers on the European Union, and Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Department of History. A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, she received her Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia and taught at Marquette University and Mississippi State University before coming to Pitt.  Dr. Delnore has published articles and reviews on French history in various journals, including Historical Reflections /Réflexions historiques and French Historical Studies.  She currently serves as a list editor for H-France, a listserv for historians of France, and has received grants in support of her research from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the German Marshall Fund.  Dr. Delnore’s areas of research interest include:  France and the French Overseas Empire in the 19th Century, political culture of imperialism, history of crime and punishment in France and the colonies, post-emancipation labor systems, and penal colonization.
