Research Interests

I earned my PhD in history from Temple University in 2019. My book manuscript is an environmental history of race, space, and disaster in Rapid City, South Dakota and the wider Black Hills region of the American West. I examine continuities between conquest and settler colonialism, the reservation system, and segregation of Native American neighborhoods in the urban West during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. My secondary research interests include the history of medicine and presentations of history in video games. I have taught at the University of Pittsburgh since 2017.
